Outdoor Shower For The Backyard Pool or Weekend Camp

Defined Tag: Outdoor Shower.
Poolside or outdoor shower facilities are generally intended to simply rinse swimmers to remove the pool’s water treatment chemicals. In most cases these are connected to a cold water supply, forcing your guests to shiver uncomfortably after a swim.
However, it’s a simple matter to purchase and install an outdoor shower with both hot and cold running water, even on a budget. New designs and manufacturers provide a wide range of outdoor bathing equipment, not only for backyard pools but for camps as well.
Installing an outdoor shower can be done right at the poolside or if a bit of privacy is desired, inside a changing room if available. If you’re planning the installation of a pool, don’t forget to consider this aspect of it as well.
When camping, especially in remote areas, finding adequate facilities is not always possible. In some cases, it may be possible to setup an outdoor shower with an enclosure to provide for simple bathing needs. If electricity or a generator is available, a portable pump and water heater may be a simple solution for getting back to nature with a few modern conveniences.
If electricity is not available, an outdoor shower can easily be set up by connecting it to an elevated water container, preferably made of plastic or other non-corrosive material. Avoid using steel drums or containers that may have housed unknown chemicals or other products harmful to the skin.
One important consideration when installing an outdoor shower is to ensure adequate drainage is available. Avoid installing them where runoff may infiltrate drinking water sources or into wetlands. Ideally, when no drainage is a available, a simple catch basin can be made by digging a hole beneath the shower and filling it with stone.
While the idea of an outdoor shower may sound primitive, they can be a real convenience, especially to avoid having people tramp through your home to shower indoors after a swim!
