It’s best to install on at the change to daylight savings time as it’s an easy way to remember to change the cartridge each year.

You may want to investigate using a two-stage filtration system for your shower filter. These generally use one stage to remove chlorine, sediment and turbidity, while the second stage will remove lead, synthetic chemicals and waterborne parasites. While more costly, these systems afford far greater protection than single cartridge systems.
