Pretty much everyone likes to listen to the radio, especially when they’re taking a shower. A onetime fad, shower radios have grown from cheap plastic transistor radios to full-blown sound and communications systems for use while you bathe. So rather than singing in the shower, we’ll look at ways to bring real musical talent into the bath with you!

Because electricity and water don’t mix, it requires stiff design protocols to ensure consumer safety regarding shower radios. Most permanent systems are physically located away from the water source and utilize wireless technology to transmit sound to the speakers.

Far from the “Ronco” shower radios advertised on television during the 1970’s, you’re no longer limited to just a radio. With CD carousels, you can easily load up a bunch of your favorite CD’s if you don’t want to listen to the radio.

Because the acoustics change somewhat in the bathroom while showering, it’s not simply a case of sticking a radio on the bathroom sink and plugging it in. Aside from the obvious danger from electrocution, the sound is often distorted.
